International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

At the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking ceremony held at Drug Free World in Italy, the Founder of Love and Light, Ms. Magaly Kayigamba, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the crucial role of involving volunteers — especially former drug dealers and addicts — in the fight against substance abuse.
She emphasized that first-hand testimonies from those who have personally faced the harsh realities of drugs and alcohol have a unique power to reach and move young people and entire communities. By sharing their stories of struggle and recovery, these volunteers can break down stigma, open honest dialogue, and show that transformation is truly possible.
Ms. Kayigamba also stressed that prevention efforts are most effective when rooted in real-life experience and led by people who understand the challenges from within. Through this approach, Love and Light seeks to create a deeper, more authentic impact on addiction awareness and prevention, ultimately building a healthier and drug-free future for all.
